MUSCULOSKELETAL & SPORTS INJURIES

Musculoskeletal injuries involve the bones, tendons, muscles and ligaments. These injuries can occur due to acute injuries such as direct trauma (whiplash, or sports injuries), or from chronic use related to a person’s occupation such as repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel, or from over-use such as military members marching for many years with a heavy pack.

Many clients of Spot On Acupuncture are Veterans Affairs Clients with conditions from acute injuries and/or chronic injuries resulting from the demands on the body from their service.

Acupuncture treats musculoskeletal injuries, often in combination with other forms of rehabilitation therapies such as massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic therapy, and other forms of pain management such as medications.

Acupuncture treats muscle injuries by placing acupuncture needles along anatomically significant areas such as motor points, trigger points, muscle tendon junctions and traditional acupuncture points.

Needle insertion along these points encourages taut muscle bands to relax, decreases inflammation and increases circulation at the site of injury, resulting in more blood flow, faster healing and a quicker overall recovery.
